Frequently asked questions about marking
What is clothing marking?
Each item gets a unique Data Matrix code — a two-dimensional barcode. Through it the state marking system (operator: Kazakhtelecom JSC, Tañba brand) knows who imported or produced the item and where it is now.
Goods subject to marking cannot be imported or sold without a code.
Which goods and from when?
From 01.12.2026 — bed, table, toilet and kitchen linen, leather garments, artificial fur articles, ski suits, garments of nonwoven, rubberised and laminated materials and some other garments (group 6211).
From 01.03.2027 — coats, jackets, sweaters, cardigans, shirts, blouses, scarves and ties.
From 01.10.2027 — knitted coats and jackets, suits, dresses, skirts, trousers, knitted shirts and tracksuits.
The exact answer depends on the HS (TN VED) code: check it on the website or in the bot.
Who must mark goods?
Importers — for goods brought into Kazakhstan, and manufacturers — for goods produced in Kazakhstan.
If you buy goods from a wholesaler inside the country, they must arrive already marked. Confirm this with your supplier in advance.
When does an importer apply the codes?
Before the goods enter Kazakhstan (or before release for domestic consumption): at the factory, in a third country or at a customs warehouse.
That is why codes are ordered in advance and sent to the factory together with instructions on where and how to apply them.
What about goods already imported?
Goods imported before mandatory marking started can be marked until 01.01.2028. Only new shipments are urgent.
How much does a marking code cost?
3.26 ₸ per code excluding VAT. Codes are paid directly to the marking system operator, not to us.
How much does MarkKZ cost?
The MarkKZ service costs 5,000 ₸ per shipment plus 3 ₸ per item. You pay once per shipment, at the “Codes” step, when everything is ready to order.
Marking codes (3.26 ₸ per code) are paid to the marking system operator separately.
What do I need to start?
A digital signature (EDS) of the company head or sole proprietor, registration in the marking system with the Light Industry product group, and product cards in the National Product Catalogue.
MarkKZ guides you through these steps and, if needed, goes through them with you over a video call.
What does MarkKZ do?
It takes care of the paperwork: from the supplier file it prepares product cards for the National Catalogue, orders codes, builds a PDF with labels by product, size and colour, and instructions for the factory in its language — Chinese, Turkish, English or Russian.
The service also prepares documents for the state; you review them and sign with your own digital signature.
Is it safe to trust a service with this?
Your signature key never leaves your computer: documents are signed in the browser via NCALayer. You review everything before it goes to the state.
Data is stored on servers in Kazakhstan.
Where do I find the HS (TN VED) code?
In the invoice or customs declaration, from your supplier or customs representative (broker). An exact check needs the 10-digit code, for example 6302 10 000 0.
When do you launch?
