What marking is
Marking is a unique Data Matrix code on every unit of goods. Code data is stored in the state information system for marking and traceability of goods. The system operator is Kazakhtelecom JSC, Tañba brand.
The code shows who imported or produced the item and where it is now. Goods subject to marking cannot be imported or sold without a code.
Deadlines: three waves
The list of goods and dates is approved by Order No. 199-НҚ of the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan of 26.05.2026, as amended by Order No. 215-НҚ of 30.06.2026. A list item covers all HS (TN VED) codes that start with it.

The rules for marking light industry goods are approved by Order No. 450 of the Minister of Industry and Construction of 10.09.2026; the main provisions apply from 14.11.2026.
Who must mark
- Importers — goods brought into Kazakhstan.
- Manufacturers — goods produced in Kazakhstan.
If you buy goods from a wholesaler in Kazakhstan, they must arrive already marked. Confirm this with your supplier before buying.
When importers apply codes
The code is applied before the goods enter Kazakhstan (or before release for domestic consumption): at the factory, in a third country or at a customs warehouse.
That is why codes are ordered before the goods leave the factory and sent to the supplier with instructions: where to apply them, what size, and how not to mix up sizes and colours.
Existing stock
Goods imported before mandatory marking of their wave started can be marked until 01.01.2028. Only new shipments are urgent.
How much it costs
A light industry marking code costs 3.26 ₸ excluding VAT. It is paid directly to the marking system operator. Calculate your shipment →
How to prepare, step by step
- Digital signature. You need the digital signature (EDS) of the company head or sole proprietor.
- Marking system. Register in the marking system and enable the Light Industry product group.
- National Product Catalogue. Create product cards — for each model, size and colour — and get product codes (NTIN or GTIN).
- Ordering codes. Order marking codes through the order management station (SUZ) and pay the operator.
- Applying codes. Send the codes to the factory with instructions: codes are applied before import.
- Release into circulation. Submit release-into-circulation data to the marking system. The document is signed with your digital signature.

What about footwear?
Footwear (HS codes 6401–6405) has been marked in Kazakhstan since 01.11.2021 under its own rules. MarkKZ will support footwear after launch.
